New curriculum approved

After months of development and open consultation, the International Technical Rescue Association (ITRA) has approved its global qualification syllabus for swiftwater and rope rescue. The qualifications have been mapped against numerous national standards from the US, UK, Australia and New Zealand to ensure minima are met across the responder, technician and advanced levels. This allows world-wide recognition of training that can be recorded on a centralised global database, but aligned to each country’s own standards as well. Instructors can teach and record as many or as little learning objectives from the qualifications up to the level they are certified to instruct at no per person cost, meaning short casual training sessions through to multi-week specialist courses can be easily documented.
