International Technical Rescue Association

ITRA is the International Technical Rescue Association. We are a global non-profit that provides global recognition of technical rescue practitioners and instructors, across a wide range of rescue disciplines including swiftwater, rope, boat, tactical, confined space, structural collapse (USAR), ice and animal rescue.

WHAT WE DO

We promote international best practices and standards for technical rescue,improve the global portability and recognition of professional rescue qualifications, and provide local flexibility in delivering technical rescue training curriculum. Our Instructors have to undergo a rigorous assessment and re-certification process, ensuring in-house and commercial rescue instructors are subject to external validation. Learn more about us.

Tactical

We also offer a programme for law enforcement and military operators who need to apply technical rescue in a tactical situation.

With over 350 teaching points to create customized courses, we offer basic to advanced programmes in swiftwater rescue.

Confined Space

For industry or emergency services, we provide a flexible range of customized confined space courses from awareness to advanced levels.

We provide recognized training across paddle and motorized rescue boat training, including flat water to swiftwater environments.

USAR

We have structural collapse/urban search & rescue qualifications now for technicians aligned against the INSARAG levels of light, medium and heavy rescue.

We have some of the world’s leading animal rescue experts in our cadre. Our programmes include companion animal technical rescue and disaster response.
